On excitement setting in…

Yes, I know, I have blogged about this before, but this is a big deal for me…

I am, however, excited enough to climb out of my skin! In roughly a month, I we will be moving into my our new home!

Yes, it takes some getting used to talking about ‘we’ and ‘us’ and ‘ours’ but I am already picturing the place, and us living there. Co-existing… hopefully peacefully.

However, there’s quite a few things on the to-do list. Organising a moving company, moving the Telkom line, adjusting the insurance, the TV licence, and all that kind of stuff. All the admin, and I thrive on doing this…

Oh and the packing. That’s possibly the thing I am dreading most. Packing my life into boxes… which is also a very good time to sort out stuff… because, I am a hoarder. I keep stuff because I’m too sentimental to let go. And I really need to declutter some areas of the house before packing it up.

Being me, I have also been scouting for new beds, bedding, bedside tables and stuff to beautify our room. I have learnt the hard way that it doesn’t help imagining how something will look, and then *not* finding the items that you had in that vision. So I am scouting to see what’s out there, and will then build something picture perfect from there.

As for the rest of the house, it’s all set. I own everything, as I have been living on my own for 3 years now. So it’s just a case of re-organising and re-shuffling the contents for a fresh look.

I am also a maker of lists. I have decided that as I pack boxes, I will note down the content, firstly, for insurance purposes, so I can update the inventory of my home content insurance, and secondly to make sure everything arrives as it should at the new house.
I know, it sounds a bit OCD, and it possibly is, but this is something I would like to try. Hope it works!

Then there’s moving day! But that’s another story for another day!
