It’s been a while since I posted anything about my skincare journey. Last year, I switched to Environ, after trying out a few different brands. And initially, I was happy with the change, but to be honest, I’m getting slightly bored with the products / routine.
The facials are all the same.
There’s no real variation on the products I use at home vs. what gets used at the salon. They do have derma-lac, which is like a 10% peel, but that’s about it. I’ve also not moved up any levels in the range in quite some time, I’m still on the mild. But, it is winter now after all, and might not be the best idea to change right about now…
I haven’t found a chemical peel that I can use (again).
I used to do the Filorga Glykopeels before my wedding and continued after. It made my skin glowy and soft, with minimal breakouts and pigmentation was reduced quite a lot. Needless to say, after stopping the peels, pigmentation is becoming a real concern for me, and nothing I’m using is making it better. I also can’t find a salon what does either Filorga or LaMelle peels.
Microneedling sucked. Hard.
In the hunt for peel substitutes, I had this idea to try microneedling. Haha. Hahahaha. Nope. Not again. The procedure itself wasn’t too bad, even if there were needles involved. But the recovery… I looked like Deadpool for a few days. And the peeling, not a fan. The recovery time was just too long for me. But it may be personal taste.
Look, there were som clear benefits to doing the needling, like fewer lines on my forehead, and a general tightening of the skin, but it’s actually worsened pigmentation for me.
So it’s back to the drawing board. I need to find a solution to deal with pigmentation. The skin texture is fine, and I’ve made peace that I’ll always have visible pores.
I’m tempted to head over to the Environ Institute in Illovo to see what they can offer… but we’ll see. Else I’ll have to head on to a more specialist skincare centre to see what they have on offer in my price range (because having nice skin comes at a price!).
