The next two weeks are going to be very interesting, or very chaotic. Depends on how stuff works out.
As with most things in my life, I am a list-maker. I make shopping lists, grocery lists, lists when I pack to go away, lists of things to do… you probably get it by now. So I have been making lists since we found our new place, and have been ticking off the bigger stuff recently. This means it’s almost time!
For the move, I have organised (I think) everything… This includes, but is not limited to:
- The moving company
- When we’ll be getting the new keys
- The new lease agreement
- Organised for my Telkom line to be moved
- I have also visited my local Boxman to pick up enough sticky tape and boxes to pack my life into
- I have also organised for coffee cups, glasses, coffee, tea, a kettle, juice and snacks to be packed into my picnic bag, so everyone will be able to grab a cuppa or bite to eat as the move happens. No one likes a caffeiene-deprived addict anyways…
Now, this seems to be everything. My parents will be here the Friday before the move – my dad will help me disassemble the washing machine, and help with technical bits. My mom, however, is awesome with organising cupboards… Her help will be appreciated when I have to unpack my kitchen.
She magically knows where everything will fit perfectly… and my dad just has this knack with setting up and dismantling electronics, and fixing small stuff that may be out of order.
I appreciate them driving ALL THE WAY to come and help… especially seeing as I am not allowed to do heavy lifting for another while, thanks to my recent hospital visit. I’ll have to find a way to make all this up to them… and as of yet, I cannot think how…
In the back of my head, I know how I want the end product to look, and it’s going to be helluva frustrating to not be able to help carry the heavy stuff, or quickly drag a couch…
For now, I am sticking to updating paperwork, and updating my insurance inventory list for everything I packed a while back. And trying not to bash my head against a desk or wall for not being able to do anything…
I can’t believe we are taking this big step in just over a week. Can you say e-x-c-i-t-e-d?! Because I sure can!
