In between wedding dreams, wedding nightmares and all kinds of admin, I’m not finding enough time to relax and just clear my mind.
Today, I made some time, and it has worked wonders.
At the last Girl Geek Dinner, each of us received a Mowana Spa voucher – never heard of the spa before, but quickly found out it’s where the Indaba branch of Mangwanani used to be… eager to see the changes, a booking was made, and I wasn’t disappointed.
I booked the half day spa, but traded the foot massage for a full body exfoliation and paid in the difference. I honestly don’t like people massaging my feet or touching my feet. And, to be honest, a scrub was much more needed.
On arrival we received soda & lime, and was introduced to their retail section, and showed around. Mowana Spa uses Matsimela Spa products in their treatments, even though I don’t know whether the Baobab range will be available in stores (it’s the one they use). There was also a continental breakfast setup – croissants, scones, preserves, yoghurt, crerals; and that was followed by a hot breakfast – eggs benedict and a trio of sausages wrapped in bacon. Yum.
The treatments were great, just what I needed. Done in the same style as Mangwanani, but you have the same therapist for all the treatments. The only thing that was a bit meh, was that the in-between time felt a little short – not even time to finish a glass of water… but the rest of the service was great. And we received another voucher at the end of our time there for discount on another booking.
Will I return? Yes. It’s a tried and tested spa model that seems to work. The food was nice, the service was great. And it’s not that far away from home… always a bonus!
Time to go back to relaxing, and kicking back. Tomorrow I might go and hunt for those Baobab treatment products at Matsimela…
Thanks to my bestie who joined in on the fun and relaxation.
