On time for a catch-up…

Sjoe, I can’t believe it’s been just over a month since we got married. No, it does not feel different (So many people have asked… SO many). Life is pretty much carrying on as it did before we got married. Which isn’t a bad thing. I just can’t believe how quickly time had passed. One minute we were still planning, and now it’s all over…

The new job is going well, it’s just so nice to be doing something totally different. A complete other path, and I’m liking it. This is what I should have been doing for the last 5 years, not design. Not that I minded design, this just is a better fit for me.

I’m finding it easier to get up for work, coming in, and actually doing thing I like doing. Makes the world of difference to job morale, and how I’m feeling in general.

I’m enjoying the cooking classes a lot, it’s hard work, most of the time – learning a load of new recipes every week, and trying to memorise new techniques – but it’s awesome. I’m dog-tired after each class, but so fulfilled. Tomorrow, we do seafood. Last week was artisan bread, and the first week was meat.

So far I have ended up going home with everything I made in the class (we get to eat the instructor’s food in class), so there has been some interesting Saturday dinners… and I foresee a few more!

I have also been following the Yuppiechef baking course, because while I’m into the learning thing, why not?! So far I’ve only watched the first lesson, because I actually want to make the products before I go on to the next – it’s how I feel one learns, by doing. Here’s to hoping I can bake that yummy looking cake in the video, and replicate it.

I’ve also been dreaming and drooling over a stand mixer. I have already named her, and I’ll have her in my house some day (her name shall be Betsy, and she shall be mine). I have been pondering about buying one for quite some time (only about 2 years), they’re just hectically expensive, but I know that I’ll add value to my cooking. So, I have started a mixer fund, and hopefully I’ll get one sooner, rather than later.

Enough rambling, I guess. And back to lusting over a stand mixer…
