2012 was a year with many ups, and many, many downs. There were engagements, there were new cars, there were big steps in life. But there was also illness, and many hours spent in hospitals due to illness. But even illness has to pass, and then starts the road to recovery, which is the one we’re on now.
In 2012 I learnt a lot of lessons as well. Good and bad. Those that come from books, and those that life teaches you. Those that life throws your way might not always be the most pleasant, but it’s always a lesson worth learning. In 2012 I have also accepted that it is okay to just roll with the punches sometimes, and not always fight back – some fights are just not worth fighting in the end.
Most of all I have learnt that everything happens for a reason. And for every life that is taken, a new life takes its place. I have also found that you might plan your destination in life, but might not be the one in control of the route that gets you there in the end.
A lot can change in a year’s time, but a lot can also stay exactly the same. It depends on who is doing the changing; and that provided me with perspective I needed. A lot.
Many lessons have been learnt in 2012, and 2013 is going to be a big year. In many, many ways. I just want to make it a memorable one. No matter what. 2013 will be a year of healing, of recovery and growth, of new beginnings, and exciting times. And it will be a year spent with those close and dear to me.
